ECDay 2016 - Croatian National Theatre at the Hungarian National Opera
To mark this year's European Cooperation Day, the Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia Cooperation Progamme is co-organising the Osijek Croatian National Theatre's performance of the Nikola Šubić Zrinski opera at the Hungarian State Opera House in Budapest.
The Programme will join the 5th edition of European Cooperation Day campaign by supporting the Croatian Embassy in Budapest and the Hungarian State Opera House in the organisation of the performance of one of the most famous Croatian classical pieces at the Budapest Opera.
To celebrate the 450th anniversary of the historic Battle of Szigetvár, the Croatian National Theatre from Osijek will be preforming in the Hungarian State Opera House in Budapest. The Opera Nikola Šubić Zrinski, by Croatian composer Ivan Zajc, follows the story of the heroic defense of the city of Szigetvár and the events marking a turning point in the joint Hungarian-Croatian history.
Inspired by the joint past, the event will also be an opportunity to take a look at the present and the future of cooperation between the two counties by presenting the jointly developed and implemented projects within the cross-border cooperation programmes, including in the City of Szigetvár, today in the centre of the Hungary-Croatia cross-border region.
