With Water Framework Directive (EC) the “watch list” has been determined for 45 priority substances. Geographically, Croatia and Hungary are divided by the Mura and Drava rivers, but both countries have the same water-related problems, thus it is worth to observe the state of the international border rivers commonly. The project aimed at connecting the specialists and create professional groups for the information exchange, as in both countries many research groups, institutes and companies are involved in water management and water treatment, but they are working separately. Thus, the project focussed on creating a state review about the occurrence of micropollutants in the Mura region, a sampling methodological plan including the state-of-the-art technologies and best practices, and an online platform for comprehensive dissemination of data and results.
