The project connected the secondary school students and teachers with the local forestries as well as higher education institutions to form a comprehensive approach to a jointly recognised problem of the two regions, that of the fewer and fewer old forest fruit trees, important for the local eco-systems and providing food for people and animals.
During the project old trees were mapped, their seeds collected and new plants were nursed by the teachers and students until ready to be planted back in the forest. A joint database of the rare trees was set up and several joint workshops both theoretical and in the field were realised and a joint curriculum elaborated to be used in the future in both partner schools.
